Hey there!! My name is Jeanne, thank you for stopping by! I am a wife to an amazing man and a mom to 3 beautiful and sassy kiddos. Alexis (18), Mikinzee (14) and our little bear, Logan (2). Ya, there is a 12 year gap in there!! And you might hear me go off on tiny tangents about it. Sorry…. not sorry!?! I mean, mom life can be hard, and sometimes I hop on the struggle bus and drive that sucker! Other times, I pop some champagne, surrender to all things real and cheers the struggle, because I really wouldn’t have it any other way! And lets be honest, life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, but it is always worth it!
And if you’d believe it, I started this blog 4, possibly 5 years ago. Ya… back when my husband was my boyfriend, when I thought raising 2 girl was a challenge and I had 2 more dogs than I currently have. We’ve had to put down 2 fur babies and now have our lone ranger, Chunk! (English bulldog) He will make an occasion appearance because well, he’s hilarious, disgusting and occasionally gets on my last nerve! Not to mention my other last nerve our tailless cat, Bindee, hangs onto. Meh! Honestly guys, I AM an animal lover!! I promise! Might not sound like it, some (a lot) of the times, but when you’re forever sleep deprived and your 2 year old sleeps the night through and it’s your DOG or CAT that either one or BOTH get you up at all hours of the night…. just know, THAT is where I am coming from!
And if you’re still reading this, thank you!! I realize my life isn’t any more special or interesting than the next person. I just thought I’d give blogging a shot. A shot in the dark mind you, but here I am. It been an interesting journey so far. This whole thing is out of my comfort zone. I have been raising young ladies to navigate this world of technology. One that has grown and changed so drastically since conception. I am the mom that cooks dinner, almost, every night of the week. We sit at the dinner table together and chat about our day. Sometimes it’s like pulling teeth to get them to give you more than one word responses. I “almost” have them trained that cell phones don’t belong at the table. That conversation and communication is extremely important! And not via text!! I’ve been working so hard to be off my cell phone, for the past…. so many years. Teaching them to live and be in the moment. Now here I am starting and emerging myself in a blog and social media!?! WHICH IS ALL ON MY PHONE AND COMPUTER!! Hahahahaha, oh the irony!! But, like I mentioned earlier about “tiny tangents” regarding the age gap in my children… I need something to do! I am a stay at home mom. I did work outside the house for a handful of years once the girls were older, but have returned to be a stay at home mom with our little guy. Which, I am super grateful that my husband and I are in the position that I can be hands on with him. I love it!! Not going to lie though, it’s harder the second time around. When you have a grand plan, one that looks like “I will sacrifice for my kids now, it’s super important to me. My time will be when I’m older. Then, I can focus on myself and what I want to do” If I keep up with that motto, I will be nearly 60 before I focus on myself. Ya… I can’t do that! I wouldn’t be a good wife or mother is thats what I choose. Self is important. I’ve learned that the hard way!
So this is me and my life! A woman born and raised in beautiful Southern California. With heartstring tied to Africa, where my dad lived most of his life. I have travel since I was a young girl and it has resinated deep in my soul. It’s insatiable. So much of who I am is due to traveling to third world countries and experiencing what it can be like to live without. I love cooking, baking and entertaining. Have I mentioned I love Champagne? I also love to host parties!!! (which you will find me drinking champagne) I find myself to be a woman of many hats. I can be a little A.D.D. because of that. But why have someone else do it when you can just do it yourself? And by saying “you” I mean “me” and by “me” I mean “we” and by “we” I very occasionally mean my husband! He makes A LOT of my dreams come true!! Back to the do it yourself motto, I “sometimes” do/start too many things at once. Which causes me to get overwhelmed, pace around my kitchen island and not know where to start. So I then open Champagne!
Thank you for being here! I hope you enjoy my ramblings and at the very least you find some good eats to fuel you and your family! Hellos and comments are welcome!!
